Walker Ford Actively Looks For More Efficient Ways To Use Resources To Reduce Our Impact On The Earth
Each year Walker Ford recycles several thousand pounds of waste. Walker recycles scrap metal, wood, paper and more such as:
Brake rotors and drums
Radiators
Lead wheel weights
Catalytic converters
Metal drums
Oil filters
Wooden pallets
Cardboard
Paper
Plastics
PCs
PC Monitors
Servers
Walker Ford also recycles tires and recycled approximately 3,000 tires in 2019 alone. Recycled tires are commonly used for mulch and rubberized asphalt to repave roads.
Fluids such as antifreeze, brake fluids, and waste oil are recycled and Walker Ford’s even a registered waste oil drop off facility for the public. (yes, you can drop off your used oil even if you didn’t have your oil changed here!)
Conserving water and energy is also important to Walker Ford. in 2019 the restrooms were remodeled and the faucets and toilets were replaced with water conserving units. Much of our lighting was replaced with low voltage LED lights and Walker will continue to replace outdated lighting with the low voltage LED lights. We are in the process of retrofitting 122 exterior lot lights from metal halite to LED. The service bays have skylights to allow additional natural light in to reduce the use of artificial light and excess electricity usage. New roof systems with I.S.O. insulation reducing our energy use have also been installed. Air conditioning units are being replaced with energy efficient HVAC systems as needed and the new systems are electronically controlled and maintained monthly for optimized efficiencies. Printers, computers, and other equipment either power down or are turned off after hours.
Walker Ford takes a practical approach to conserve energy and reduce waste from the dealership and actively looks for more efficient ways to use resources to reduce our carbon foot print on the environment.
